Dog Adoption Fees

Why Do Rescues Have Adoption Fees?

Along with daily care costs, the adoption fees help WCAL cover vaccination and medical prep costs for the dogs and cats.
At adoption, WCAL dogs and cats will be current on their vaccines and will have the following:

WCAL-DogFees

Adoption Fees:

  • $200 - Dogs Over 1 year
Fee will be waived if you're adopting a senior or special needs dog.
  • $350 - Puppies aged between 8 weeks through 1 year
Attending a 4-week force-free training class with your new pup is required. We'll help you find a qualified trainer that's located near your home.

These adoption fees are much lower than our actual costs for medical, food, pet supplies, etc. because we want adoption to be accessible to everyone! Our donors subsidize the actual cost of adoption and we are grateful for the support.

Adoption fees are not tax deductible, but the amount of any gift to WCAL that is above and beyond the fees listed above IS tax deductible.

Adoption Fee Includes:

  • Spay/Neuter
  • DHPP & Rabies Vaccines (age appropriate)
  • Microchip
  • Heartworm Test (age appropriate)
  • Flea Treatment
  • Deworming
  • LOVING CARE & TLC!
