This little lady tested positive for FIV when she was spayed. The really interesting thing is that her sister Frida tested negative, as did the little boy kitten Picasso we paired them up with! We can't begin to imagine what happened before they came to WCAL and we aren't too worried because most young kittens who test positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus at this age will test negative in about six months once they develop a decent immune system and have some time to grow up. These days, we know that FIV isn't the death sentence people once thought it was. Not only is it ok for FIV-positive cats to live in the same home with FIV-negative cats, but cats who test positive can absolutely live long, happy lives with good food and regular vet care. Our plan is to find Lavinia an amazing indoor-only home and keep in touch with her humans in case they need any support in the future
PS she's sharing a foster home with two other all-black cuties named Picasso & and Frida, all three are now looking for homes!
