ReHome Your Pet

We get multiple requests every day to save pets who are in shelters or take in pets in need of a new home due to other circumstances. Our rescue is a small foster-based group, and we are often at capacity. While we can't accept owner surrenders, there are tools and options for you to rehome your own pets directly from your home:

  • WCAL is happy to offer a courtesy post on our social media to rehome any pet free of charge. Our only requirement is that they must be spayed/neutered. Please email us a detailed, honest bio and your best 4 or 5 photos so that we can share them on our feed and direct interested families to contact you directly. Once we hear that you have successfully rehomed your cat or dog, please let us know and we will update the listing to remove your contact info.
  • 'Rehome' is an online listing offered by the Petco Foundation where you can list your dog or cat and describe their ideal home and they'll be posted on Adopt-a-Pet. You can use the bio we craft for a courtesy post to easily upload your pet to this online tool and reach an even wider audience.

By rehoming your cat or dog with one of these options, you are saving our limited foster homes for less fortunate pets in shelters or living on the streets. It's also better for your cats and dogs to go directly from their current home to their new adopter without ever entering a shelter, placing an additional burden on rescue groups. We are happy to offer our support, share tips and answer your questions about rehoming a pet.
